Avant <em>L\u2019Air et les Songes<\/em>, il se livre dans <em>L\u2019Eau et les R\u00eaves<\/em> (Corti) \u00e0 une m\u00e9morable exploration des eaux douces. Si la mer y est parfois \u00e9voqu\u00e9e, Bachelard confesse qu\u2019il n\u2019a vu la mer que tr\u00e8s tard. Que serait devenu le manuscrit si Bachelard \u00e9tait n\u00e9 au bord de la mer et non au bord de l\u2019Aube, rivi\u00e8re qui traverse sa ville natale, Bar-sur-Aube&nbsp;? On proposera librement une fiction de cette r\u00eaverie de la mer, sal\u00e9e et temp\u00e9tueuse, pour y trouver des \u00e9chos de l\u2019imaginaire bachelardien et peut-\u00eatre quelques th\u00e9matiques impens\u00e9es mais profond\u00e9ment enracin\u00e9es dans son imaginaire.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Massimo Venturi Ferriolo (Professeur \u00e9m\u00e9rite de l\u2019\u00c9cole Polytechnique de Milan, Italie), introduit par Paola Capone (Universit\u00e9 de Salerne):&nbsp;<\/strong><em>Fons vitae.<\/em> L\u2019acqua sorgente di paesaggi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>======As the very essence of life, water plays a leading role in myth, Sacred Scripture and philosophical thought, from the earliest reflections on nature. Nature draws sap from water. The first cosmogonies recount that, at the origin, nothing existed. Life was born from the desire of water and earth to join in a fruitful union, a theme taken up with its variations by the later mythical heritage.&nbsp;From the ancient world to the present day, water has always maintained a strong mythical and vital significance, coming from afar, from the time when man has used it in the necessary arts, first and foremost agriculture.&nbsp;There is no art without water: this is the lesson of myth and culture. Hence, water<em>, fons vitae<\/em>, is a precious good that calls for an ethic of responsibility.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bertrand Westphal (Directeur du laboratoire Espaces Humains et Interactions Culturelles, Universit\u00e9 de Limoges, France):&nbsp;<\/strong>Le liquide et l\u2019effroi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>======Lorsque Deleuze et Guattari estimaient que la surface maritime \u00e9tait un espace lisse, ils se pr\u00e9cipitaient quelque peu, car \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge moderne celle-ci s\u2019est couverte de lignes abstraites conformes \u00e0 une g\u00e9opolitique fascin\u00e9e par les stries. Pour le moins, ils avaient raison sur un point. Dans l\u2019imaginaire collectif, les mers restent l\u2019<em>espace<\/em> par excellence, celui qui r\u00e9siste \u00e0 l\u2019emprise v\u00e9ritable, celui qu\u2019il est si difficile de domestiquer, de transformer en <em>lieu<\/em>.<br>======Dans mon intervention, on reviendra sur une expression moins galvaud\u00e9e qu\u2019il n\u2019y parait&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;fendre les flots&nbsp;\u00bb et faire b\u00e9er le monde.<br>======Fendre les flots fut longtemps un symbole d\u2019hubris. En effet, si d\u00e9j\u00e0 le <em>terroir<\/em>, lieu a priori familier, entra\u00eenait philologiquement la <em>terreur<\/em>, qu\u2019aurait-il pu en \u00eatre de la mer, si infiniment plus redout\u00e9e&nbsp;? S\u00e9n\u00e8que donne une id\u00e9e de cette angoisse ontologique dans sa <em>M\u00e9d\u00e9e<\/em>, qui, \u00e0 peu de choses pr\u00e8s, annonce la peur des lendemains incontr\u00f4lables. Avant d\u2019en arriver \u00e0 notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 liquide, ouverte sur la communication \u00e0 outrance, il aura fallu en passer par la vision que Dante expose dans le chant 26 de son <em>Enfer<\/em> et par celle, bien diff\u00e9rente, que Cam\u00f5es consigne dans ses <em>Lusiades<\/em>. Il aura fallu en passer par celle que Primo Levi entrevoit \u00e0 Auschwitz, au c\u0153ur d\u2019une apocalypse fonci\u00e8rement tellurienne, celle-l\u00e0, alors qu\u2019il revisite la lecture dantesque de l\u2019<em>Odyss\u00e9e<\/em>.<br>======Comme l\u2019a si bien compris Georges Didi-Huberman, dans <em>Essayer voir<\/em>, le lieu, notamment totalitaire, se situe entre le d\u00e9chiffr\u00e9 et le d\u00e9chir\u00e9. Tout au long des si\u00e8cles, alors que l\u2019on affrontait l\u2019\u00e9tendue liquide, on \u00e9prouvait le sens profond de cette dualit\u00e9 extr\u00eame, le d\u00e9chir\u00e9 et le d\u00e9chiffr\u00e9, qui faisait de la mer la quintessence des effrois et des espoirs de l\u2019humanit\u00e9.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Olivier Francis (Facult\u00e9 des Sciences, de la Technologie et de la Communication, Universit\u00e9 du Luxembourg, Luxembourg):&nbsp;<\/strong>Freezing Days in Antarctica: Embarking on a Journey Towards the End of the World<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>======The \u201cice continent\u201d Antarctica is a unique place: cold, dry, windy\u2026 with long days and nights.
